As summer days begin to shorten, school days are around the corner. Vickie and I are excited for legacy youth group to gear back up. The next few months will be busy and exciting time for us. We are planning a back to school kickoff party at the end of August. Team Impact will have a great affect on our community and especially the younger generation. They will be here for several days in September. Dare 2 Share will be in November and that is a great conference in Denver. So we eagerly await the start of school and are expecting a great autumn. As you are reading this newsletter, Legacy Youth Group is just coming back from Acquire The Fire. I can’t wait to share with you how God has touched us this year. As I am writing this letter prior to leaving, I can only anticipate that God will have many wonderful and unimaginable gifts in store for us. He always does. Instead I will share with you scripture our Sunday School class has read that has stayed on my mind for the longest time. Currently we are reading the book of Luke and the scripture is the Parable of the Sower. (Luke 8:5-15) Click to Continue »

Vickie and I wanted to give a special Valentine Card to the Girls in our youth group. We sent a card with the following poem. I wanted to share it with everyone as this is too good not to read. Although it may be late for Valentines Day, here is Gods love letter to you, his very special child. I hope you like it too. Click to Continue »

The bible tells us in Isaiah chapter 6 how Isaiah’s’ life changed when he sees God in heaven. Surrounding him are seraphim singing “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty. The earth is filled with his glory.” In Gods’ perfect light he sees his own unholiness. He sees his sin and shame and says “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips and I live among a people with filthy lips.” His sins are then taken away through Gods fire. Then God asked “Whom shall I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” Isaiah replied “Here I am. Send me”. Click to Continue »

Yes you are reading that correctly. Impact youth group has decided to change its name to “Legacy youth group”. Thanks to Bobby O. for coming up with a list of names and the kids had an overwhelming majority decided on Legacy. The acronym for our group name stands for:
Living
Eternally
Grateful
As
Christian
Youth

Our youth Sunday school class has been studying in the book of Revelation. You may recall that the book begins with a vision that John has in which Jesus gives seven specific messages to seven churches. In each message Jesus acknowledges the positive deeds and rebukes the negative aspects in each church. He states “He who has an ear let him hear what the spirit says to the churches.”
This has really stayed on my mind for several months now. If Jesus gave a letter to Temple Baptist Church today, what might it say? What would He be pleased with? What would be a disappointment to Him?

What an exciting time of year for impact youth group. As kids get ready to gear up for another year of school, so our youth group gets ready to renew again. I must confess that being involved with the youth is both heart warming and heart wrenching. Vickie and I have been blessed to be able to work with the youth from our church and community. We have had the pleasure of seeing and helping kids come to know and trust in the Lord for the first time. We have seen some grow deep in faith; some grow with hearts to serve, some to evangelize, some to lead in worship. We want to help each teen grow and develop in any way God is leading them. There is nothing more rewarding.

Recently I heard the story of Ryan Mcafee on Klove radio. I was touched by his story and wanted to share it with you through the words of his older brother Lance. I hope it touches you as well.

Where do I begin? How about our God is an awesome God! Why? Well there are an infinite amount of reasons, but let me tell you a story about one of them.
