Questions of Life
1. If God is for us, who is against us? (vv.31-32)
“who is bigger, stronger, more powerful than God?” (Psalm 27:1)
God is not keeping a tally sheet to see if you have earned His gift. It was freely given and can only be received freely.
2. Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? (vv. 33-34)
The question of life that Paul is asking and answering here is: “Is there anyone or anything that can bring a case against me that would result in me losing my relationship with God?”
This question of life can be answered by one word….Grace.
Grace is unearned favor… it is the judge paying the fine for us.
Real freedom is living in the grace of God. In the knowledge that Jesus is interceding for us and that is enough.
3. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? (vv.35-39)
The love of Christ has already been demonstrated in this passage as being a willingness to die for us, and a willingness to intercede daily for us. The question of life here is can anything stop those things from happening?
Verse 35 describes those things that often causes us to question our spiritual standing: tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, sword?
Because we have the power of the “love of Christ” what can separate us from the love of God?
